Hussein Hekmat al-Ghabban, director of the credit department at the Iraqi Agricultural Cooperative Bank, said loans of up to 3 billion dinars ($ 2 million) were available to farmers to support various agricultural and livestock projects.


In a promotional video circulating by the Iraqi government, he said the loans were financed by an initiative of the Central Bank of Iraq (CBI).


Loans of 250 million dinars or more will require a feasibility study and will require approval from the Director General and the "High Committee".


He added:


"All projects have the same priority. We do not differentiate between one project and another. Any project that moves the industrial sector forward is considered important."

Iraq needs relations with the Iranian nation: Iraqi politicians

TEHRAN, IRNA - A representative of the Iraqi National Wisdom Movement (NWM) says the difficult situation in Iraq demands sympathy and relations between the Iraqi and Iranian nations.


In Tehran, Syed Ammar al-Hakim and NWM representative Zargam Husseini met with IRNA chief Ali Naderi in Tehran on Thursday.


Naderi said expanding political and economic ties with Iraq is a priority in Iran's foreign policy because it is of strategic importance to Tehran.


Naderi noted that good neighborliness and goodwill have always been at the heart of Iran's relations with Iraq.


He noted the influence of the Arab IRNA on countries in the region, stressing that the status of the IRNA could be used as a reliable tool to improve Iran-Iraq relations.


Elsewhere in the meeting, Husseini said that Iran-Iraq relations have always been important and that the Iraqi media has sought to expand those ties.


He called on the Iranian and Iraqi media to work together to advance relations between the two countries.


Iraqi politicians have warned Iranian and Iraqi Shiites against diving, which is the policy of some groups, and said it should be handled through co-operation between the two countries.
